Every 8th of March, various countries around the world celebrate International Women’s Day. Besides commemorating the struggle of women’s rights, this day also celebrates the notable achievements of women. In the past, there would be demonstrations and protestors on this day. Today, however, a more peaceful approach of campaigns is adopted instead. On top of this, while it is widely observed in most countries, it is a national holiday in some.
Indonesia, for example, has declared 21st April a national holiday in celebration of Kartini Day, the Indonesian equivalent of Women’s Day. Kartini was a pioneer in the area of education and rights for women in Indonesia. Without her, women in Indonesia probably would not be where they are today.
It is evident that women today are more empowered. Not only do they have higher educational attainments, they are also financially independent. This makes them a lucrative market that brands can tap into. Many companies have noticed the potential in targeting this half of the world’s population. Hence, it is common today to see products and services that are specially designed for them. For example, companies like Mastercard roll out credit cards that are exclusively for women.
Therefore, TPM Outdoor has handpicked some of our busiest and most popular sites in Jakarta Airport and put together an International Women’s Day package. This will reach out to women who are frequent flyers. To aid in spreading awareness of women’s rights, this package will run for 2 months, until Kartini Day on 21st April.
