It is the F1 weekend and it is a whole load of FUN and EXHILARATION. Singapore is the venue for many events and aside from the world-class sporting events such as F1, just recently Singapore welcomed the International Champions Cup (ICC) with multiple European champions like Bayern Munich, Chelsea and Inter Milan in town. All these events are certainly a boost to the tourism and the economy of Singapore. To the overseas tourists, Singapore is a safe, well connected in terms of less than 1.5 hours flight to regional cities such as Jakarta, Manila, Kuala Lumpur, Phnom Penh etc
This World Cup 2018 was also a great marketing opportunity for many hospitality related clients like hotels and restaurants to create events for group watching so that we can cheer our favorite teams on with each other. Our client Resorts World Sentosa did a short term campaign on a seasonable basis for tourists coming to Singapore to stay some nights in Singapore to enjoy the resort and games together! These head-on displays at the Batam Ferry Terminal helped to reach frequent travelers to Singapore from Batam as these 2 countries are less than 60 mins ferry ride awayThere are a few more events upcoming such as the BNP Paribas WTA Finals Singapore presented by SC Global. Featuring the world’s top eight women’s Singles players and Doubles teams, the BNP Paribas WTA Finals Singapore is the season-ending tournament of the Women’s Tennis Association’s (WTA) calendar and the most prestigious event of the women’s professional tennis tour.
Indonesia’s rising middle class and the advent of low cost carrier such as Lion Air/ Baitk air also means that Immigration Offices Feeling the Heat as More Indonesians Travel Overseas. More Indonesians can now travel to Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Hong Kong and even to Europe for their holidays. Vietnam is also an increasing popular destination. The increase in passport applications in Indonesia can also be attributed to more Indonesians going for Umroh and Haj travels. It is estimated that due to the hajj and umrah, more than one million Indonesians travel to Saudi Arabia each year.
Malaysia is also holding several World Class events such as the upcoming 2018 MotoGP or the Shell Malaysia Motorcycle Grand Prix in Nov 02-04 in Kuala Lumpur. Many tourists including from Singapore and Indonesia will be there for this exciting event, less glamorous than the Moto F1, but definitely more exciting in my opinion!
Even the Christmas Light up in December and also the Marina Bay countdown are events that will attract many tourists to Singapore or remind them to return and extend their stay. TPM Outdoor media are the best head-on reminder to the consumers to advertise all these World Class events!
